Easter Fun

We had a busy weekend. I took Miles to his first movie in the movie theater. He saw "Horton Hears a Who"! He enjoyed it and the movie was cute. Saturday we decided to take Miles to an easter egg at the Calusa Nature Center. You had to pay to get in so we thought it would be a great easter egg hunt. Miles was so excited. They advertised carnival games, a bounce house, and easter egg hunts every half hour. The games were so bad. One of the games required you to pick a duck from a little pool and that was how many tickets you got for a prize. Seriously, we could have come up with that type of games at the house. Anyhow, then we went for the easter egg hunt. Miles got one egg. No joke. They didn't have it divided by age group so of course the older kids were faster and better at hunting. Miles was about to cry when it was over. Honestly I was ready to cry myself. He had been so excited about it all week. Lesson to self, do own easter egg hunt next year!! The people running the place felt bad and gave him five more eggs, but by this time Gerald and I were so mad that we paid money for this that we left. The rest of the weekend went well. We gave the kids their Easter baskets and they loved them. We went to church on Sunday and then went over to Ann Clark's house. She cooks Easter lunch for the pastoral staff at our church. Mini Vacation

We went to Orlando for a couple of nights. We took our friends Becky and Rob with us. They have two children close to our kids ages. We had a great time. On our way down we went to the zoo in Tampa. Gavin loved the zoo. It was his first trip there. He actually laughed out loud at the funny looking animals. Miles noticed lots of things at the zoo this time. Including the boy parts on the rhinoceros. He asked in a rather loud voice what it was. There was a family standing close by and in our efforts to try and come up with something intelligent to say we took our time answering him. I'm assuming this only increased his curiosity so he kept asking us. Needless to say the family beside us was getting a kick out of the whole thing. Ah, the innocence of children! Then we headed to Orlando where we hung out for a couple of days. We didn't do the whole Disney thing because of our last experience there. Instead we hung out at our place. The Marriot we stayed at was awesome. It had a great indoor playground, pools, and paddle boats. A family at our church offered a few days to us because they could not stay the whole week. It was nice to relax and to hang out with our friends. We also went to Hard Rock Cafe, played putt putt, and walked around City Walk. It was a lot of fun. The vacation went surprising well considering we had four toddlers on the trip!!
